Selling on Etsy

EKphotoArt Etsy Shop
My Etsy Shop
Selling on Etsy is a new way of promoting my work. I've seen many successful artists sell prints on Etsy and I've had some great feedback on my work from artists, photographers and art lovers. So why not!

Until now, I have used third party print and stock services to sell my art photography but as my youngest child starts kindergarten this September, I want to expand my horizons and sell prints that I personally send out to buyers. Being in direct control of how the finished product comes out is a very appealing concept. I mean, what else am I gonna do with all the extra time? What I love to do most, of course: Take beautiful photographs and sell them!

So far the Etsy process is simple but with many possibilities that all will determine my potential exposure and therefore success as an Etsy seller. Still in the beginning stages, I've uploaded a few images and am trying different approaches. I know that it's best to keep different art styles separate so I may have to open a couple of shops for prints, downloads, landscapes and florals, but for now, in the learning process, I plan to keep it simple and just have one shop with multiple sections.

Etsy.com is very user friendly and offers many options to personalize your shop. All you need is some good quality photos of your product and anyone can start a shop. The key element is be active! Make sure to make connections with other Etsy sellers and upload new listings regularly. Also, be personable and approachable. A great profile photo will go a long way. These are some tips I have picked up in my early stages of research. I plan to keep you updated as I find out more :-) And if you already have some secrets you want to share, please comment!
